My work focuses on highlighting masculine figures while making them appear as soft/friendly. Some works of mine involve two men being intimate with each other romantically. I use acrylic paint and I mix my colors together so that I can have a good supply of it and as well mix them to a color of my choosing. I tend to mix neon/fluorescent colors in order to have my works reactive to black light as well to add another element to them. To be honest, there really isn't a direct connection to these works. I just think "I wonder how X looks in this way" and these pieces are a result of that. Theme I keep in mind to tell a story and engage the viewer. I think of these pieces as a snapshot in a moment. It can be the beginning, in-between, or end. It's about getting a frame of a moment.

CHASINDOODLES
My work approaches this by showcasing different body types. Personally, one thing I've notice in homoerotic art is that is has very slim or muscular-chiseled men. I tend to draw/paint bodies that can be described as "dad bods" or showing men on the heftier side.
I find myself doing stretches before painting. I'm aware of keeping my body healthy and have practiced martial arts for years. The stretching helps in staying limber and preventing stiffness. Before when I was in college, I was living a mostly sedentary life before and had lower back and shoulder pains often. When I got back into exercising and stretching, I found the pains disappeared entirely so I keep up to stay limber and prevent myself from feeling those again.
Being an artist full-time. I thought it meant creating full time but in these times you have more duties to fulfill. There's marketing, maintaining and updating a website, social media promotion, inventory, printing, mailing, preparation, and others on top of general life. There is more than just creating if you want to live the life as a full-time artist. We can't forget about our personal self growth and life to live.
Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid to create. Don't be afraid to self-promote. Don't be afraid to experiment. Don't let things hold you back from creating. Don't be afraid of practice. All the amazing works you see out in the world are results of discipline and practice. Artists don't tend to show the progress of works and you have to understand things take time an effort to be brought to life. Ask questions. Challenge yourself. Practice. Live a life. Art comes from inspiration you have from life so go out and have one.
